Larry Keeping is a Senior Technical Specialist at PLC Fire Safety Solutions and has been active in the field of automatic sprinkler systems and other water-based fire protection systems in design, installation, inspection, testing and maintenance since 1973. He currently represents PLC as a special expert on the NFPA 13 Technical Committee on Sprinkler Systems Installation Criteria, the NFPA 13 Technical Committee on Sprinkler Systems Discharge Criteria and the NFPA 24 Technical Committee for the Installation of Private Service Mains. Larry also serves on the NFPA 25 Technical Committee on Inspection Testing and Maintenance of Water Based Systems.

SYNOPSIS:

The presentation will focus on the most significant changes that are being introduced into the forthcoming 2019 edition of NFPA 13, the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. Larry will review the most significant revisions from the perspective of his active involvement in the standard’s technical committee. He will offer background and explanations for the changes to the standard. Topics will include subjects such as: the reorganization of the standard, new provisions for automated inspection and testing, corrosion mitigation, water supply adjustments, system configurations and acceptance testing.
