Trisha Ashworth, P.Eng. Code Consultant Morrison Hershfield
Trisha is a Code Consultant with the Code and Life Safety Group of Morrison Hershfield (MH). As a new addition to the MH team with over 10 years of building consulting background, she now assists the senior consultants in the group to provide code consulting services to Clients. Previously, Trisha worked for other engineering companies, first within the context of building condition assessments and asset planning and then as Manager of Code Consulting. In her capacity as Manager of Code Consulting she was responsible for conducting fire safety and code reviews and providing technical oversight of reports prepared by others. She has been a frequent presenter on fire and life safety topics for the Canadian Condominium Institute (Huronia Chapter) and various property management groups.
This presentation provides the linkages between the design requirements in the Building Code, and the occupancy requirements in the Fire Code necessary to permit occupancy in corridors of various occupancy types. This is one example of the type of design information that is useful to share with your municipal fire department, to facilitate enforcement and ultimately public safety.
