Ken Blazey Power Solutions Consultant Total Power Limited
Ken Blazey is a Power Solutions Consultant at Total Power Limited, working as technical support and trainer to approximately 300 electrical and mechanical engineering firms across Canada for the Generac Power Systems product lines. Ken is presently Vice-Chair of the CSA C282 Technical Committee for the Emergency Electrical Power Supply for Buildings CSA Standard for Canada, and is an active voting member of CSA Z32 Technical Subcommittee for Essential Electrical Systems for Healthcare Standard for Canada.
Ken has extensive experience in the standby/emergency generator market in Canada with Generac, Baldor, Kohler, Lister-Petter and Onan/Cummins major brands as well as custom manufacturing of generator sets with local firm Peel Engines for many years. Ken has sold & managed projects for Toronto Zoo, Aviva Canada, Brampton Transit, Deutsche Bank, Home Hardware Distribution Centres, Toronto District Catholic School Board, National Defence, Loblaw Properties, Toronto Sick Kids Hospital, and many Ontario Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Government Services projects to name but a few.
This presentation is an introduction to the CSA Standard C282, for users, regulators, and for engineering designers who work on new emergency system projects regularly. It reviews the purpose of the standard, the content of the various mandatory sections and tables, the non-mandatory (informational) annexes, and then provides some clarifications to the recent changes incorporated into the latest 2015 edition.
It will discuss the principle of harmonization with other CSA documents, and why this concept is important to regulators and designers alike. The presentation also discusses the CSA process for official inquiries, and touches on the membership requirements for a CSA Standard.
