Gerry Bourne is currently a Member-at-Large of the SFPE Southern Ontario Chapter's Executive Committee and has been serving on the committee since May 2015.

Gerry is a graduate of McMaster University, receiving his Bachelor Engineering and Management in 2004. Gerry has 10 years experience in the Fire Protection Industry with broad experience in systems including speciality detection, special hazard, sprinkler, fire alarm, and security. He has managed offices, large installation projects, and teams of technical sales associates.

Currently Gerry is the founder and managing partner of CodeNext Inc., a firm of building and fire code professionals.

SYNOPSIS:

In recent years there have been serious advancements in the technology used in video surveillance equipment and the analytics in the software that interpret that video. Because of these advancements we can now use the cameras to detect fire hazards and fire events in innovative ways to provide greater property protection and life safety. This presentation will explore how video surveillance can be used to detect hot spots, monitor for specific temperatures, track rate of rise of heat, and even to identify smoke. The presentation will introduce different technology options that are already available and in use around the world. The presentation will include an interactive and live demonstration of camera and software technology.
